"The key is what is within the artist. The artist can only paint what she or he is about" Lee Krasner
My artistic process has always been intuitive. Using thread to stitch either by hand or machine produces lines and shapes that are tactile over my abstract collage forms.
I chose Fiber Arts as my major when attending Tyler School of Art to obtain my MFA. I found that machine stitching on a variety of substrates allowed me to create abstract expressive works. This led to a new creative investigation for me during which, consciously or unconsciously, I became influenced by female abstract expressionistic artists. Later introducing collage, I found larger pieces that expressed bold shapes and colors, much like Lee Krasner’s later works. The stitching now enhances the collage forms,
Recently, the content of my artworks has evolved further, the textures are
varied and dominant. The abstracted expressive free-form motifs are inspired
by nature in contrast to textures from man-made everyday objects.
